Flight testing Homebuilt Aircraft Flight testing Homebuilt Aircraft
Defines flight-testing as a four phase (pre-flight, first flight, envelope expansion and performance), step by step process of learning the limitations of aircraft, defining and eliminationg problems and determining aircraft capability and optimum flying techniques. A must for all homebuilders. 189 pages illustrated. By Vaughan Askue.

Price: £17.00

Theory of Flight Theory of Flight
Unabridged reprint of Richard Von Mises' 1945 classic text, by one of the great pioneers in the field of aeronautics, this account of fundamental fluid dynamics looks at the following in great depth : equilibrium and steady flow in the atmosphere, the airplane wing, propeller and engine theory, airplane performance, control and stability.
There are many other sub-sections far too numerous to list - please phone us if you require more detail.
629 pages, with graphs, charts, diagrams and formulae throughout.

Price: £22.00

Low Power Laminar A/C Design Low Power Laminar A/C Design
The first of Alex Strojnik's three books on the subject, this one examines what laminar flow is, wing aerodynamics, a/c drag, engine performance, design applications etc. The 240 pages, very much for the serious designer/constructor, are packed with illustrations, graphs, diagrams etc, although despite that it is clearly written, in a very readable style.

Price: £36.00

Low Power Laminar Aircraft Structures Low Power Laminar Aircraft Structures
The second of Alex Strojnik's books, this one moves on to look at what loads act on a/c, a/c structural materials, spar design, stressed skins etc. The 207 pages are again very well illustrated with diagrams, charts, graphs etc.

Price: £36.00

Low Power Laminar Aircraft Technologies Low Power Laminar Aircraft Technologies
The final book in Stojnik's series, the third one looks at speeds, wooden wings and fuselages, modernizing wooden structures, fibreglass wings, sandwich wings/fuselages, finishing composite surfaces, Strojnik wings, aluminium, flutter and testing. 222 pages, well illustrated with diagrams, charts etc.

Price: £36.00

Airfoil Selection Airfoil Selection
B Wainfan's book is designed to provide the homebuilder with a basic understanding of airfoil geometry, it's effect on airfoil aerodynamics, and the characteristics of an aircraft using a particular airfoil. The aim is to lead to the right airfoil selection, and there are many graphs, tables, charts, diagrams and other data to help achieve this.

Price: £15.00

Aerodynamics of V/Stol Flight Aerodynamics of V/Stol Flight
Written for both students and engineers, this comprehensive volume concerns the design and function of aircraft v/stol capabilities. It covers propellor / helicopter rotor aerodynamic theory, wing / prop combinations, flaps, boundry layer control, ground effect machines etc. Plans, graphs and formulae throughout its 328 pages, this new 1999 edition is another in our range of titles for the serious engineer.

Price: £18.00

Homebuilt Aerodynamics and Flight Testing Homebuilt Aerodynamics and Flight Testing
This book is for the homebuilder who wants to know more about basic aerodynamics. Many different configurations are evaluated, and the first part of the book is designed to familiarise the builder with flight characteristics. The second part concentrates on flight testing, and takes the pilot from first flight through performance, and on to flying qualities, including tests and suggestions for improving performance. Written by S Englert, a very experienced aeronautical engineer, pilot and designer, the book's 128 pages are packed with diagrams, charts etc.

A History of Aerodynamics A History of Aerodynamics
John Anderson’s book represents a milestone in aviation literature. For the first time aviation enthusiasts - both specialists and popular readers alike - possess an authoritative history of aerodynamic theory. Not only is this study authoritative, it is also highly readable and linked to the actual (and more familiar) story of how the airplane evolved. The book touches on all the major theorists and their contributions and, most important, the historical context in which they worked to move the science of aerodynamics forward.
Something of the unexpected quality of this book can be inferred from its full title - "A History of Aerodynamics and Its Impact on Flying Machines". Pilots tend to suppose that the science of aerodynamics began empirically, somewhere around the time of Lilienthal and the Wrights, and that aerodynamics and manned flight are roughly coeval. It is therefore surprising to come upon a photograph of the Wright Flyer as late as page 242 of the 478-page volume. The book successfully straddles the boundary that separates a text book from a history book. It is of equal interest to both the aerodynamicist and the layman. The balance achieved by the author has resulted in a book that is both enjoyable and educational.
Contents - Part I. The Incubation Phase: 1. Aerodynamics - what is it?; 2. The prehistory of aerodynamics - from antiquity to Da Vinci; 3. The dawn of aerodynamic thought - to George Cayley and the concept of the modern airplane configuration; Part II. The Infancy of Aerodynamics and Some Growing Pains: 4. The infancy of aerodynamics - to Lilienthal and Langley; Part III. Aerodynamics Comes of Age: 5. Applied aerodynamics comes of age: the Wright brothers; 6. Theoretical aerodynamics comes of age: the circulation theory of lift, and boundary layer theory; Part IV. Twentieth-Century Aerodynamics: 7. Aerodynamics in the age of strut-and-wire biplanes; 8. Aerodynamics in the age of mature propellor-driven airplanes; 9. Aerodynamics in the age of the jet airplane; Epilogue.
Illustrated throughout with almost 200 figures, photographs etc.
